Creating and Modifying Sites with Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007

Overview:
This two-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to create and modify sites using Microsoft's SharePoint Designer 2007.
Prerequisites:
General familiarity with the web and web technologies.
Lesson 1: Getting Started
- The SharePoint Designer workspace
- Open a SharePoint Team Site
- File Types: ASPX vs. HTML
Lesson 2: Web Sites
- Create a new SharePoint Team Site with SharePoint Designer 2007
- Create a SharePoint Workspace
- Explore Other SharePoint Templates
Lesson 3: Explore Client-Side Features
- Create an HTML Page
- Explore basic formatting and hyperlink creation
- Insert and modify Images
- Add Javascript actions
- Create an Image Rollover
- Review Cascading Style Sheets use with basic HTML and ASPX Pages
Lesson 4: Creating and Modifying Team Site Pages
- Modify the Default Page
- Modify a Sharepoint List Page
- Create a new List View
- Create a brand new Sharepoint List
Lesson 5: Create new ASPX Web Part Pages
- Add HTML Tables to hold Web Part Zones
- Add the Web Part Zones
- Add Web Parts to the ASPX page.
Lesson 6: Master Pages
- Carefully alter the default Sharepoint Master Page
- Create a new Master Page and attach a style sheet to it.
- Apply the Master Page to your new ASPX page.
- Explore client-side 'Dynamic Web Templates' for HTML Pages.
Lesson 7: QuickBar Links & Pages
- Create a Header Page for use on the Team Site Quick Launch
- Create a new Section in SharePoint using your Header, ASPX & HTML Pages.
- Preview in Sharepoint and test the new links.
Lesson 8: Design Workflows
- Introduction to workflows
- Create a workflow/Use the Workflow Designer
- Create rules that associate conditions and actions with items in SharePoint lists and libraries
- Test to ensure that changes to items in lists or libraries trigger actions in the workflow.
- Add fields in a document library to use in the workflow
- Delete or remove a workflow
Lesson 9 Data Views
- Connect to a SQL server Data Source
- Create a Data View
- Sort and filter data in a Data View
- Create and format a Data display page; Recordset Paging
Lesson 10: More Data - Modification
- Insert a Data View as a form
- Set form properties
- Edit, delete and insert records
- Explore creating and modifying XML data views
Lesson 11: SharePoint Designer - Permissions and Contributor Settings
- Explore SharePoint Designer Contributor Settings and their relation to SharePoint Permissions
- Create custom Contributor settings to prevent a test user from adding an image to a page.
