Fireworks CS4

Course Length: 2 Days

Overview:
In this course, students will use Adobe Fireworks CS4 to create vector graphics, edit bitmap graphics, optimize images, create and assign rollover effects, and create multiple pages for the web.

Prerequisites:
Windows XP - Level 1
Windows XP - Level 2
Basic experience with web technologies
Or equivalent knowledge

Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Get familiar with the Fireworks environment
• Create vector graphics
• Import and enhance bitmap images
• Add text to a web page
• Create slices and rollovers, and optimize graphics for the web
• Create hotspots for images and link them to web pages
• Create multiple pages and export them

Course Content

Lesson 1: Getting Familiar with the Fireworks Environment

• Examine the Fireworks CS4 Environment
• Use the Tools panel and Property Inspector
• Draw a simple Vector Shape
• Save and Preview Files

Lesson 2: Working with Bitmap Images

• Open, Import and edit Bitmap Images
• Edit and Crop Bitmap Images
• Scale bitmaps
• Apply Live Filters to Bitmap Images
• Use the Rubber Stamp Tool
• Work with Selections
• Use the Magic Wand Tool

Lesson 3: Creating Vector Graphics

• Create Graphics Using Vector Drawing Tools
• Create Basic Shapes
• Modify and Scale Vector Graphics
• Work with Auto Shapes
• Apply effects to vectors
• Draw paths . . .use the Pen tool
• Customize fills and strokes
• Gradient Fills

Lesson 4: Exploring Layers

• Add and name Layers
• Move objects from one layer to another
• Protect layers
• Explore layer options

Lesson 5: Adding Text

• Create and edit text
• Use transform tools to scale, rotate and distort text
• Use text as a mask
• Attach text to a path

Lesson 6: Optimizing for the Web

• Use the optimize panel
• Create and optimize slices
• Explore slicing tricks

Lesson 7: Hotspots and Slices

• Create web hotspots
• Add rollovers with slices
• Add filters with slices
• Explore disjointed rollovers

Lesson 8: Using Symbols

• Create and edit a graphic symbol
• Create an edit a button symbol
• Explore animation symbols

Lesson 9: Exporting

• Create a multipage layout and share layers.
• Explore export options.
• Export and Preview in a web browser
