Managing Performance
Course Length: 1 Day
Overview:
In this course, students will identify performance management and understand the importance of creating a performance management plan.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify performance management and its common pitfalls, understand the importance of creating a performance management plan and the steps to establish the plan, and identify the process of discussing job description
- Identify the steps to conduct an effective performance-planning meeting, the process of providing feedback, and types of coaching and document coaching and feedback efforts
- Understand the performance appraisal process, identify and gather appraisal material, prepare for an appraisal discussion, lead employees in an appraisal discussion, respond to defensive employees, and resolve conflict in an appraisal discussion
- Identify legal appraisals and responsibilities in relation to laws enforced by the EEOC, risks of legal challenges, and the importance of maintaining positive communication
- Plan performance improvements, handle performance problems, use effective communication to solve performance problems, conduct status meetings, and maintain documentation of ongoing communication
